A chic and livable Los Angeles home for a family of four.

Architecturally, everything was so new and crisp. Our goal was to add depth and create opportunities to weave in some much needed texture.

The clients requested a design that made the home more inviting, but wanted to avoid anything too busy. One of them was all about black, walnut and grey. The other was longing for color and didn’t want the black to feel too heavy.

They had a fantastic pair of illustrations painted in sumi ink and gouache by Jenna Snyder-Phillips, which we used as a cheerful focal point in the entry, unifying the adjacent spaces, which had more muted color palettes.

The end result is a California style interior that compliments the open plan architecture, without feeling austere.
