Eco-Friendly Sustainably Reclaimed Wood Design.

This project is a great example. It features a living room with an eco-friendly sustainably reclaimed wood design.

Our carpenter sourced reclaimed wood from an 1880’s barn in Maine to wrap the ceiling beams. Once he located the wood, it was run through his local saw mill to be cleaned up to today’s standards.

Meanwhile, the fireplace we built out was dramatically large, thus the black walnut mantle needed to be an extra long length. This time, our resourceful carpenter traveled two hours out of town to find large enough machinery to handle the mantle piece. The clients and I agreed the efforts were well worth the gorgeous results!

The wood finishes are accented by the warm glow of the copper pendants, a unique and useful bar from Universal Furniture, sofas from Restoration Hardware, the custom-built stone fireplace and striking and powerful image of Mount Hood in Oregon which we chose to print on metal to illuminate the image even more.

We used the same wood theme in the home’s gender neutral nursery (our client couple wanted the surprise at birth) which featured furniture from Universal Furniture and a rocker / glider combination from LEE Industries, who has beed a leader in furniture sustainability for decades.
